Style and Tone
I want the film to have a very dark and sinister tone (Women In Black-esqe), but with a hint of the psychological. The look of the pursuer will be very horrific, resembling similarly the main character from Heartless, the film. Uses of shadows, sound and special effects such as strobe black-and-white screens and well-cut clips will be prominent. The camera technique being used will be from a 1st person perspective - inspired by Cloverfield, the entire film will be seen and heard from the perspective of the man being chased. This not only adds tension to the experience, but also helps enforce the element of it being a psychological thriller. If a 3rd person angle was used, one could almost certainly say that the events taking place were real; however, with it being 1st person, it leaves the film open to interpretation. In terms of inspirations for the tone of the film, I was mainly influenced by Duel; in the idea of a chase but with a hint of the TV series Top Boy, with it taking in London. The other spin I wanted to take with the film is that a lot of the scariest parts happen during the day, a stark contrast to regular horror and thriller films.
