Pre-Production Film Proposal - Narrative

Narrative

  • The Film starts at night in a narrow alleyway. A regular looking, everyday man (but with the suspicious look of blood covering his shirt and hands) is walking to the other end of the alley, listening to music on his camera phone. He feels something which disturbs him and turns around and sees a figure, standing just outside the radius of the only light in the centre of the alley; motionless. As he turns around, a glint of light can be seen in the man's hand holding the camera - a reflection on a knife
  • He turns around and walks on, back to his house
  • The next day, he wakes up and goes about his daily routine. On the way to work he passes a funeral scene, and as he looks at the coffin the screen goes to black then a picture of the same figure's face flashes up, then a black flash on screen again and it goes back to normal; he shakes it off. Stopping in a coffee shop in the centre of London, he sees a figure across the room. He has his hood up, but a red wine scar across his face is still visible
  • As the man walks on, he constantly looks behind him through the busy Oxford Street crowd and at points sees the sinister figure - slow-mo effect used here in order to build tension (a lot of people are wearing the same hood as the man, so as he walks down the road, when they turn you see the face underneath the hood in slow motion to gain suspense - on the third or fourth time it's the pursuer)
  • This chase carries on through bus stops, tube stations and eventually lets off. The recording is then cut and resumes at night, when the man leaves a building and starts on his way home
  • Walking along the Southbank towards Millennium Bridge at near 11pm, with the lights of London in the background, he once again feels what he felt the night before, and turns around to see the figure, walking up to him. A chase ensues, some parts at running pace and some using the effects of shadows and noises around corners
  • Eventually, he comes to Millennium Bridge and stops halfway across. With soothing music, as if he has lost the follower and the nightmare is over. He then turns around and the music cuts, the strange fiture is standing behind him. Only his face is shown, and there is a scream in the background followed by a jolt and the man falls over. Blood is seen on the floor
  • This instantly cuts to a black screen - an alarm clocks sounds then the man being chased wakes up, back in his own room. Talking to himself, he decides it must have been a dream. Looking down however, he sees cuts and bruises on his arms and chest from the night before. He faints and drops the camera, leaving it looking upwards
  • The person chasing him walks into shot, looking down. Cuts to a black screen and credits role
